Victor Gerasymyuk
My name is Victor Gerasymyuk. I am married, have 3 children, and am a deacon at Fimiam Church. I studied in the orthodox spiritual seminary to become a priest. I also studied “Church Ministry” at the Bible college, “Treatment” at the medical school, and “Physical Therapy” at the university.
After I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1998 and the doctors did not promise a long life, I understood that only God must be in the center of my life. Then I realized that all people, irrespective of age, will stand before God and give a report of the years lived. There is no way to be in heaven except repentance of sins and continual personal time spent with God. God took away the fear of death and gave me joy, peace and love. I began to talk to Him and the next year the problems with lungs and chronicle hepatitis departed from me. I wanted to serve the Lord more and He brought me to Fimiam Church. In 2001 I was baptized and later I became a deacon. I visited sick people and spiritually supported people in the church. I served during communion at church and preached. Currently I help people with disabilities, providing physical rehabilitation and massage. I also provide first aid during camps and conduct training on how to help sick people.
I dream that all people will understand that one can have a happy life only through friendship with Jesus. I want all people to love God and others. I want to see disability ministry in each church.
Life credo: to live my life according to Jesus Christ’s commandments and in friendship with Him.
