June, 28 - July 2
"Covenant" camp for people with disabilities

Fimiam Church conducted a camp for people with disabilities in Ozero village June 28 through July 2. This is the third year that the church has held Christian camps for children and adults with disabilities, giving them joy of being in fellowship with each other and with God. This year we organized camp for 49 people with disabilities and 21 of their family members.

Many of these people were in wheelchairs but it was not a barrier for them to participate in all camp events because our volunteers constantly cared for them. The week was full of the joy of fellowship, fun games, riding horses, singing around the bonfire, Bible lessons, English study groups and crafts.

This camp was a real pleasure for many people who were able to get out of their homes and simply spend time outside, forgetting about all worries and having fellowship with each other. An atmosphere of love and kindness reigned in the camp and it helped people to open up their hearts to share their hardships and receive healing of their souls from God.

During these 5 days, we talked about covenants in the Bible: Noah, Abraham, old and new covenants. Using Bible lessons and dramas, we were able to demonstrate the most important thing - God's relationship with a man. On the last evening of the camp, we prepared a festive supper for all of the campers, demonstrating the marriage supper of the Lamb with those who believed in Christ on earth. The preaching of the Word of God moved the hearts of people and brought 9 of them to repentance of their sins and confession of Jesus as the Lord of their lives.

We are grateful to God for the privilege to serve people with disabilities, showing them God's love in action. It is a great joy for us to see these people happy.

Feedback from some people with disabilities about the camp:

"I am very glad there is such a camp because last year this very camp became a rock for me that brought me to the way of the Lord." - Tetiana.

"Camp is the best thing I received during this year. It is happiness." - Yulia.

"Most of all I am happy because I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart as my personal Savior." - Dmitro (this man repented on the last day of the camp).

"It is a wonderful camp for people with disabilities where love reigns. Here I met with my old friends and made new ones. For a long time my dream was to ride a horse and here it came true. I love sports and I participated in the competitions here. I am happy." - Igor.

"My impressions of the camp are great. Great because I was surrounded by the kindest, most wonderful and pleasant people - people who are close to God with their souls and hearts. I have never seen this many smiles ever in my life." – Alexiy (this man repented on the last day of camp).
